  • Genesis to accelerate its penetration into the global market with expanded product portfolio

Genesis, the luxury automotive brand, has unveiled G80 and G80 Sport at the Busan International Motor Show, taking place from June 2 to 12 in Busan, Korea. With two new models added to its lineup, Genesis will strengthen its presence in the global market. The new G80 and G80 Sport sit beneath the flagship G90 luxury sedan, which went on sale at the end of last year.

Manfred Fitzgerald, Head of Genesis brand, and Luc Donckerwolke, Head of Design Center, both stood on stage to introduce Genesis G80 models.

Manfred Fitzgerald said, “Our vision is to become an authentic and relevant global luxury brand by delivering outstanding and fascinating products and services. We strive to make a positive difference in the lives of our customers, becoming an important element of their lifestyle. And speaking about creating fascination, it all starts with great design. That is why we are such a design focused brand.”

He also added, “A luxury automobile should convey a sense of sophistication of elegance and of exclusivity. Of course, good design goes well beyond styling and you sense it at first sight. It does not need any explanation. Therefore, we have assembled a team of outstanding designers like Luc Donckerwolke.”

Luc Donckerwolke, Head of Design Center said, “We will strive to go beyond the expectations of our customers and the market whenever we show a new model by showing a more creative and progressive design.”

In addition to expanding its product range, Genesis will also strengthen its organization by recruiting global talents, and provide worry-free customer services and other unique programs to upgrade the brand’s position in the global luxury car market.

Genesis G80 - World Premiere

All about perfection and detail, Genesis G80 sedan is a technology-packed, performance-focused luxury car that prioritizes on design, new technologies and comfort for discerning customers with individual tastes.

Originality and confidence are central Genesis design themes that contribute to each model’s athletic elegance. The car’s dynamic-looking front end features a three-dimensional radiator grille sat between exquisitely-designed adaptive full LED headlights.

Sitting on 18-inch wheels - designed to deliver style, comfort and driving dynamics - Genesis G80 emphasizes its size with dark chrome styling enhancements at the side and rear. While inside, the finest materials have been applied to key occupant touchpoints.

An evolution of the range-topping G90 large luxury sedan, G80 delivers class-leading occupant comfort and driver-focused performance from its 3.3-liter GDi and 3.8-liter GDi engines paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

In addition, upgraded human-focused innovative technologies are applied to the G80. To ensure safer driving, it has active safety technologies, including Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC), LKAS (Lane Keeping Assistance System), and DAA (Driver Attention Alert).

Genesis G80 will start sales in the Korean market in July 2016, and will be launched in major markets including US, Russia, and Middle East later this year.

Genesis G80 Sport - World Premiere

The world premiere of Genesis G80 Sport sees the introduction of a luxury four-door sports sedan that takes the elegance and refinement of G80 and adds high-performance technologies to deliver a driver-focused car that is true to the sporty agility of Genesis range.

G80 Sport boasts a powerful 3.3-liter turbocharged engine that generates a significant 370PS and 52.0kgf.m (376lb-ft) of torque at 1,300~4,500 rpm. Exuding confident sportiness, the G80 Sport is fitted with an eight-speed transmission.

The smooth body of the G80 Sport has a sensual sporty look, which sets the car apart from its G80 sibling. The design team added more daring and dynamic elements to differentiate the Sport from its G80 sibling - in particular, the mesh grille at the front, mirrored by dual exhausts at the rear, plus the brushed chrome surrounds side windows and styling lines. Inside, drivers will appreciate the deep sports seat, G80 Sport steering wheel with paddle shift and selectable driving modes to boost driving fun.

G80 Sport will launch in the Korean market in late 2016 before expanding its availability to global markets into 2017.
